The 3 Things to Do In the Interview That Could Get You the Job

If you haven’t been part of a workforce for some time interviews can be even more nerve-racking than normal and we all know how much harder it can be to sell yourself in person as opposed to your paper based resume.

But no matter the reason, whether you’re looking to get back into work, trying to change careers or just looking for better opportunities, a successful interview is the product of a number of important factors.

One of the most important factors is relationship you create between yourself and your prospective employer, as people will hire people that they like sometimes despite others qualifications or relevant experience. If you don’t have that good starting relationship then you’ve already minimised your chances of being hired.

So how do you go about making sure you create the right relationship with a potential employer?

1.
Use the right body language

Body language can say even more than the words that come out of your mouth as body language and facial expressions exhibit to an employer how interested and engaged you are in the conversation and position. Try to smile, show confidence and make sure you listen so you can respond correctly and build a successful conversation.

2.
Find out more information

Another way to show interest and engagement is by asking questions. Ask questions that will reveal extra information that you had not previously received. Instead of simply answering a question, try to respond by including a question of your own. This shows you which to have a conversation and learn as much as you can.

3.
Show you can handle anything

Every job is going to come with challenges so it is important to the employer that they pick someone who can handle the pressure. Research the company prior to your interview. This may give you a better understanding of the challenges and changes the company is either going through or have been through and you will learn how this has affected the position you have applied for.

Asking questions relevant to
the state of the company tells the employer that you were well prepared for the interview and also gives you the chance to rely some of your experience in similar situations.
Also the more confident you are in the interview; the easier it will be for the employer to build a strong relationship with you. However don’t relax too much, just try to develop the conversation with ease.
